The business faced a key question: how to empower users to reclaim value from their data while deciding on the right mobile app approach. Should we go for a quick browser-based solution or invest in a native app for greater functionality?
I led workshops with stakeholders, including the C-suite, to align on a bold vision. We aimed to create more than just an app — a platform that empowered users to take control of their data. At the centre of this vision was Google, a tech giant synonymous with user data, offering an opportunity to turn it into something truly empowering.
This was the challenge driving the business’s ambition to launch a new mobile app. The right approach wasn’t obvious: a quick browser-based solution or a native app with greater capabilities?
As the design lead, I guided cross-functional teams through workshops, user validation, and iterative design. What we created wasn’t just an app but a platform that empowered users to reclaim value from their personal data, putting Google at the centre of the experience.

The initial concept was simple: let users earn by browsing. However, stakeholder workshops and discovery sessions revealed this lacked the depth users needed.
In discussions with stakeholders, we decided the team should make a bold pivot: allowing users to earn directly from their Google data. By facilitating collaborative whiteboarding sessions and driving alignment with the company’s mission, we agreed this innovative approach was the right direction. Together, we mapped out a strategy to ensure the experience was seamless, intuitive, and trustworthy, meeting both user needs and business goals.
The initial idea was simple: let users earn by browsing. But discovery workshops revealed this wouldn’t meet deeper user needs. Whilst familiar, browsing alone wasn’t inspiring or empowering.
Through stakeholder discussions, I proposed a bold pivot: allow users to earn directly from their Google data. Google, as a tech giant, has accumulated vast user data. Enabling people to reclaim value from it felt innovative and empowering. The challenge was to make this idea intuitive and seamless.

Research highlighted three key user needs: simplicity, transparency, and control. These principles shaped the design.
I developed wireframes focusing on intuitive flows, making it easy for users to connect their Google accounts, track their earnings, and feel in control. Early prototypes were tested and iterated based on user feedback, refining onboarding and reducing friction. The result was a seamless, rewarding experience that empowered users to reclaim value from their data effortlessly.
Discovery uncovered key user needs: simplicity, transparency, and control. This shaped a vision for users to easily connect their Google accounts, track earnings, and feel empowered.
I prioritised concepts and developed wireframes focused on trust and ease of use. User testing refined the designs further, ensuring the process was intuitive at every step. The final experience made connecting accounts and earning from data seamless and rewarding.
